  1. Severe Weather
    On the night of 28th - 29th of February 1903 a fierce gale blew at a speed of 93 miles per hour causing considerable damage. Thousands of trees were uprooted and especially elms. Large numbers of birds were killed. Roofs of houses were damaged but no lives were lost in the locality. When the storm abated an English man who was living in Dunboyne proceeded to gather wood-pigeons that were killed by the storm. He succeeded in collecting about two dozen which he brought home and made pies. A dish of which
