I saw a Croppys grave in my Uncle's field in Kilmainham Wood.
At the corner of the street in Kilmainham Wood Village there is a tree from which a lot of men were hanged in 1798. I saw the place where Parnell boiled Indian meal for the people in the year of the Famine. My great-grandfather fought at the battle of Tara. Whitewood Lake is supposed to have moved from where Kilmainham Wood village is now to where the Lake is at present. It is believed to be enchanted.
About one hundred years ago a white horse used to come to the edge of the lake each night about twelve o'clock. there is a Holy Well in Kilmainham Wood. People are cured by taking a drink. Each year people go to it to pray and be cured. St. Patrick is the patron Saint of the well.
