About forty years ago there was a big dog which used to go up and down through Coolronan some nights in the year, he used to go fairly often and he belonged to no one.
One night the police who were in Coolronan that time, were above standing at Hiney's and as they were, the dog came up and when he was passing one of them said "I'll shoot him" and when he did the dog stood and looked at him and he got afraid and the dog went on trotting again.
Another night some of the lads were standing at Anderson's bridge and the dog came trotting along as he always did. He never walked, he would always trot, and he came near them they began to throw stones at him and he faced them and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
