Years ago the people never got married in the month of May nor on a Friday because it was considered unlucky.
They often had mass said in the houses and then go to the chapel and get married and they always rode horses and raced against one another on their way home and they danced all day and all night long.
Sometimes they gave presents of goods and stock to the bride and bridegroom.
The way they had for travelling in olden times was on side cars. When the bride returned home, the friends who were there to receive the party would break a cake of wheaten bread over the newely-wed couple's heads as they entered the house.
