- The houses long ago used to be made of yelllow clay and thatched with rushes out of the bog. The rafters used to be made of long crooked oak beams and tied together with old hay ropes.
There used to be a long chain hanging down the chimney on which the pot or kettle used to be hung. The most useful article to be seen in the house was the spining wheel which was used by the venerable old grand-mother.
