“About eighty years ago, there lived in Delvin a woman whose name was Mrs Lacy.”
She had an only daughter and her name was Peg.
Peg went off as usual one evening with some other children, to play around the moat in Delvin. They stayed away longer than usual, and Peg's mother went to call her to her tea, but all her calling was in vain. Peg had disappeared, without the other children noticing her.
The mother then knew that the "Good People" had taken her into the fort.
This story was told to my grannie when she was nine years old, by the little girl's mother, and she told it to me.
Long ago, the people had a firm belief in fairies.- Bailitheoir
