  1. The old people long used to eat whole meal cakes of oat meal backed on a griddle. They commenced work before they ate their breakfast. The food they had for their breakfast was porrage.
    They used to make bread with water, soda and salt and some flour and it was called black bread.
    There was times in the year when they had certain feasts such as Easter, Hallowe'en and Christmas.
    On Easter Sunday eggs were eaten. On Hallowe'en night pancakes were made and culcannon also. Meals were only eaten three or four times a day.
