When to school I was a fool
I would rather skip and play
To quarrel and fight was my delight
I practised every day
I am now a slave going through my grave
Myself I blame for all

“Once upon a time there lived in Kieran a man named Kieran.”
Once upon a time there lived in Kieran a man named Kieran. He built a very big Catholic Church to which the people used to go on Sundays. He got five beautiful crosses which decorated the church
One night St. Columcille came to steal the crosses but he only succeeded in getting two of them and a piece of the other because when he came back for the third cross St. Kieran caught him and succeeded in breaking one piece of it off. The piece is to be seen yet in the Black-water. The other piece of it is in Kells at Cooney's corner. It has three concrete steps around it. It is called the Cross of Kells now.
