  1. Perhaps the most interesting of all the old ruins connected with Nobber is the old ruins in the graveyard. We are told that there was once a huge monastery in this graveyard. It covered the whole cemetry. It belonged to a community of monks and scholars known as the Knights of Saint John. They were very industrious. They cultivated the land and attended the sick.
    This community had an hospital outside Nobber at a place called Spiddal. It is from the word Oisbideál that Spiddal derived its name. The Section of the community that attended the
