Ar an leathanach seo

  1. In olden times the food fiffered very much from that nowadays. The oaten cake which was very common then is rarely used in this district now. The people get oaten meal and water and a grain of salt. Then they wet the meal with the water and mix it until it is in a paste. Then they add the salt and mix it again.
    When that is done they put it on the griddle to bake. When it is finished or baked it gets very hard. The people then flatten it and eat it.
    Another common food which the people use is cabbage and bacon. They put the bacon in a pot and when it begins to boil they put the cabbage in the same pot. The way the bacon will grease the cabbage. When it is about a quarter of three quarters of an hour boiling they take it up and put it on the plate with a few potatoes.
    They often went out hunting the deer with dogs. When they would catch it they would kill it and bring him home
