- Hallowe'en is celebrated here, especially by the children. Suppertime is looked forward to and games are played after supper.
At supper the principal object of interest is the barm-brack - or fruit loaf - sometimes bought and sometimes home made, and always containing a ring. Besides the ring there are also coins, a piece of cloth, a match-stick + a thimble. These are eagerly searched for as the person who finds the ring is supposed to marry within the year.
She who gets the cloth will be a nun, the one who finds(continues on next page)
