- An Epistle To Mr E-M.
Although little time
To study I now can devote;
I know you'd be piqued, if in rhyme,
I would not reply to your note.
I own, that in rhyme I delight,
When I have a moment to spare;
But as to a critic I write,
I must be of blunders aware.
Why time in apologies waste?
No limping excuse shall I send,
But that am responding in haste,
To what you have leisurely penned
Am glad you're contented in mind,
As you must on Teaching depend;
And that your Patron you find,
The gentleman, scholar, and friend.
Your pupils, you mention, "will do,"
And boast that "their talents are rare,"
Improvement depends upon you,
So no opportunity spare.
By care, perseverance, and tail.
All tillers accomplish their ends -(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
