He said himself that the moment he walked on it a fog came down over his eyes, and he imagined that he could see his own house near him. He kept going on but according as he kept going on he was going more astray. He came at last to a river and when he could not cross it he sat down by the side of it. Bernard Reilly happened to be in a field near by counting his stock for the night. He saw my grandfather sitting at the river and went out to ask him what was wrong with him. He told him, and Bernard brought him safely round the road to his home.
