It is situated in the parish of Moylough in the Barony of Fore and in County Meath. It was built about three hundred years ago. It was besieged by Cromwell in 1649. There is a ruined church in this district. It is situated in Loughcrew Blessed Oliver Plunkett built it years ago. There are only the ruins of it to be seen now.
Cromwell placed his cannon on the hill of the Deer Park and knocked the castle of Moylough. The old ruins of the Castle of Moylough stands on the hill about four miles to the south of Oldcastle, in the Barony of Fore, County of Meath.
