    There is supposed to be a crock of gold hid below in the bottom of Ballinlough lake. It is said that the Nugents rather than give up the money to Cromwell that he threw it into the lake. Another legend tells that there is no bottom to the lake.
    In Newtown there is a cave. In this cave there is supposed to be a gold ornament of a sow and her litter of pigs.
    Long years ago the old village of Fore was submerged by a lake which is now called Lough Lene.
    One day a diver from Dublin went down and found there a gold
