A favourite bread was the boxty
cake bread. This was made of raw
potatoes grated fine mixed with whole
meal. It was baked on the griddle and
was very palatable for the breakfast when
cooked on the pan.This is a poem you would hear the

It travelled around the nation,
Till it came to to the turnpike style,
It is there it took its station.The only plan is to grease the pan,
