  1. (continued from previous page)
Many a manly chest was throbbing,
With the pride of doing right,
    Whispers passed round the ranches,
Which were cleared of cattle soon,
For the hazels were in the motion,
Ere the rising of the moon.
    4
The men who drove the cattle.
The men who got the land,
Oh what glorious pride and honour,
T'was to be in that hazel band,
And thank God they had the courage,
Boys and youths near manhoods bloom,
Ta fight and win the ranches,
Ere the rising of the moon.
    5
With our homes upon the ranches,
And our sweethearts for our wives,
We will make a dash for freedom,
At the risk of our best lives,
Hands that practised with the hazel
    Will wield other weapons soon.
And make foes outrun the bullock,
Ere the rising of the moon.
