My Townland is Rosmead and Cavestown, it is now called Rosmead and it is in the North corner of the parish of Delvin.
The ancient name of my Townland was leavestown and Rosmead, Rosmead is only a small field southwest of the stoneyford river over near the churchyard of Clonarney, but now leavestown and Carneybrogan are included in the townland of Rosmead. Once Leavestown was a very famous town and an annual horse fair was held in it. It used to last a week, there was a day for racing and a day for jumping horses, it was something similar to the horse show in Dublin. It must have been the leading horse fair of Ireland until a dispute arose among the people of the town about a well, one of the parties committed(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
