The eggs that are laid on Good Friday are marked with a cross and eaten on Easter Sunday. Each member of the family tries to rival the other in the number of eggs he eats. On May Eve a may-bush is dressed with bunches of flowers. In olden times only three bunches were put on it - one for faith, one for hope, and one for charity. On May Day a young girl is dressed up and there is a procession through the streets of the city. A goose is fattened and killed on Michaelmas Day.
