- It was the soldiers who burned Mc Guinness' house in the year 1921. The cause is not known, but it was burned to the ground. The night before the burning the soldiers got drunk and they unconsciously spilt the beans. The Mc Guinness' had time to remove the valuable furniture to the neighbouring houses. The only animal inside, the night of the burning was a dog and he was burned to a cinder.
The Black and Tans burned the Plaza Hall. Raiding was a very common thing in Kilbeggan. It was done by the Republicans. The Bank and Finlay's and many other places.- Bailitheoir
