Ar an leathanach seo
- Potatoes are grown on our farm about an acre and a half of land is sown under potatoes each year. The amount often varies.
My father prepares the ground. The ground is not manured in any way before being turned up. The potatoes are sown in ridges and in drills. How drills are made:- First the ground is ploughed and then harrowed and then the drills are opened with a plough. The plough is used for making the drills, but the spade is used for making ridges. Wooden ploughs were used long ago. There are none now. Spades are not made locally. They are bought in a shop. Before the potatoes are sown they are cut into two halves.
Local people help one another sowing potatoes. One farmer helps another until he has them sowed and then that farmer pays the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
