- There are not very many holy wells in this district. The principal are St. Cremmen's Well in Lackan, St Rose's Well in Soho and St Jon's Well on the eastern shore of lough Derravaragh. People used to make pilgrimages to St. Cremmen's well long ago on St Cremmen's Pattern Day which was on the 28th June, and from the county-road to the well the people went barefoot and left offerings at the well in the form of ribbons, buttons and other articles. St Cremmen who was a nephew of St. Patrick, lived to be very old. East of Lackan there is a well in Soho known as Rose's well. The water of it cures skin disease known as Rose disease
