There is a fort in a field owned by Gibney Victualler, Ballinacargy and the fairies are supposed to be there every night. There is a path going through the field and in a certain unknown place in it there's a "stray" sod, and if you put your foot on it you'll be led astray. John Gaynor of Ballinacargy who was then 11 years old was coming home froma wake about three years ago and he walked on the "stray" sod and was brought back through Lakenstown. His father went to look for him and got him at a river called the Gurtheen 11/2 miles away from home. He was about to try to jump over it, (it is fairly wide and deep) and when his father spoke to him he said he didn't know where he was.
