- The commonest weeds in this district are Robin-run-the-hedge, groundsel, ragwart, crowfoot, prawsha, lamb's quarter, chicken weed, nettles, dandelion, seven sisters, Briskawn roots, thistles, Bootlawns and scutchgrass. Robin-run-the-hedge, scutchgrass and crow-foot do harm because they spread rapidly. Nettles, thistles, prawsha and groundsel will impoverish the land. Many of the herbs have cures in them. The juice of the seven-sisters is a cure for warts. The dock leave is a cure for the sting of a nettle. Marsh-mallows is a cure for kidney trouble.
