  1. Many land birds and water birds inhabit this part of the country. The largest bird that inhabits this part is the swan.
The swan is a beautiful white - bird. She is much bigger than the tame goose. She is supposed to be the proudest of the water birds. She has a black beak and black feet and a snow-white coat of feathers. She lives on the water and never ceases flying from lake to lake.
Nature has told her to build her nest in an island in the centre of a lake. It is said that it takes her a month to built it. When she has her nest made she lays about six large eggs. It takes her six weeks to hatch them. During the time she is hatching she covers her eggs before she goes to swim. It is an old belief that the swan drowns all her young except two when she has them hatched.
One of the legends of the swan is about the "Children of Lir".
