- There is a very old well called the Holy Well in my townsland.
It is situated in Abby Derg.
Growing around this well there are fourteen bushes, and the people of long ago did the stations of the cross here.
A great many people get water from this well, as there is a cure in it.
I was often at this well.
There is also a hill beside this well and it is called the Holy Well Hill.
When people go to get water out of this well, they always throw a stone into it or hang something on a bush beside it.
When you lift the bottle of water you are not to leave it out of your hand until you go home or it will not cure your disease.
There is always water in it both winter and summer.
There is also a stone beside this well and a hole in it which water always stays, and it is said that this water will take off warts.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
