- Long ago people used to have an old rhyme for the days people would get married.
Monday for health. Tuesday for wealth. Wednesday the best day of all. Thursdays for losses. Friday for crosses. Saturday no day at all. In this rhyme Wednesday is the best day to get married on.
They used to have an old custom also. When two would be married, the day of the wedding the married couple and their friends would go for a drive on horses and side-cars.
There are a number of old sayings about the colours people get married in
Married in brown you will travel far away
Married in black you will be in mourning
Married in blue your love will be true
Married in yellow you will be ashamed of the fellow.
Married in white you have chosen all right.
Married in green for grief.
