- In olden times people used to live on more nourishing food than they do now. They used to eat four meals a day. They used to be out at day-break and have a day's work done before eight which was generally breakfast time.
They used to have oat-meal porridge and milk for breakfast. They had no tea at that time because tea was not introduced to this country. At twelve noon which was dinner time, they used to have potatoes vegetables and buttermilk. It was only richer clansmen who could afford meat, and they killed their own pigs.
At four o'clock in the evening people used to have goat's milk and oat-meal cakes.
