   It is said there was a crock of gold hidden in "Eakins" fort in Augherea which was supposed to be placed there by the Danes, and that they put it there for safety while they plundered in Ireland, and afterwards forgot about it. Attempts were made to unearth it. nobody knows by whom or whether it was found or not.
