  1. Dock-weeds, chick-weeds, crow foot, nettle-weed and thistle are the most harmful weeds growing on our farm at home. Some people call rushes weeds also. All those are very poisonous to the land.
People mow rushes and thistles in the month of June.
Dock-weeds destroy potatoes and other crops. Chickweed grows in wet or boggy places. Chickweed is good for curing certain swellings when it is roasted.
Thistles and crow-foot grow in rank land. Thistles are good food for donkeys.
When nettle-roots are washed clean and boiled and the liquid is taken by the person suffering from measles or chickenpox it is believed to cure the sick person.
Rubbing dock leaves to nettle stings kills the pain. When rubbing the person says "Docking, Docking, cure the pain." People eat nettles sometimes. Only the new tops are used, and when boiled with cabbage it is almost impossible to know the difference between the nettles and the cabbage.
