Boy's School was erected and
"Master Pat" and his pupils were
transferred there.
Note. It appears from School
Records "Master Pat" was
appointed Monitor on 1.3.56 and
retired 31.12.1907. It also appears
from records he received his
Diploma at 18. His successor was:
James Reilly 1907 to 29.9.1915,
who was succeeded by
Richard Cosgrave 1915 to June
1920 who was succeeded by
William McNiff 1920 to November
1924 who was succeeded by
Edward Farrell 1924 to November
1925 who was succeeded by
L.J. McGrath 1925
Note: St. Bernard's School became
under Fr Dolan an Intermediate
Education School and was
successful in gaining Exhibitions,
Prizes and medals. It gave many
priests of the Diocese their first
Classical education. Many of its
pupils went as priests to all parts
of the world.
Note: The Presentation Nuns
remained in Granard only a few
years, taking their departure in
1882(?) for Portadown. They were
succeeded by the Sisters of Mercy
from Newtownforbes who later
