- The name of our townland is Ballyduffy. The meaning of this is long ago many families of Duffys lived there.
The names of our fields are as follow.
The Long Field is so called because it is a long strip of land containing two acres.
The Tan Bray is so called because it is high at the head of the field and goes down in a slope.
The Flax Field is so called because long ago people brought pieces of this field to grow flax.
The Lime Kiln Hill is so called as long ago lime was burned there.
The Bush Field is so called because a lone bush stands in the exact middle of the field.
The Hollow Field lies between two hills.
The Graveyard Field is so called because there is a height in the corner of the field under which are three graves. The names of(continues on next page)
