    Most of the houses long ago were made of mud and sods. The ribs were made of bog oak sticks. Most of them were thatched and some of them were roofed with iron. There was a bed in the kitchen and it was called a settle-bed but there are few of them to be had now. Long ago the chimneys of the houses were built with mud and sods and stones. In some houses the settle-beds were used for tables for eating of during the day.
