- There are many forts in this district. The names of them are Whyte's, Duffy's, Meehan's, Mack's Carleton's and Kenny's.
There are old fences of stones and bushes and trees. There is a fort in Killsallagh called Mack's fort, and it is said that Hugh O'Neill rested his troops there and they had no food but one bull. They tied the bull up and put him into a big fire. When the bull was put in , he began to roar and drew all the cattle from every part of the country. They killed some of the cattle and had food for all the troops.
