    SANDEEL BAY: cont.
a thorgan is a pollock hook with strip of bacon-skin lashed on up a the head of the hook, tied again at the curve of the hook and trailing a few inches longer than hook. (illustration)
With cheapness and efficiency of the patent rubber eels, this thorgan and goathair "fly" and the use of natural freshwater eels on the hooks, are almost obsolete.

WOARAWOY - under Houseland. A bay.

    BREACHÁN BRIDGE
    see "Churches" page 97
About 20 years ago a ship named the "Courtown Lass" (Capt. Massey) was lost on "the Bridge". Though the weather was not bad she became unmanageable here when beating up for the Hook against the wind. No lives were lost. The wreck was bought by Mr. Michael Fourtune Slade. He made a good deal out fo the sale of her waterproof coating (not copper) He had a motorboat to do the salvage work.

    (St?) PATRICK'S BAY
    beside "the Bridge"
