When the potatoes are overground a drill-stone is used to break the knobs in the furrows. According as they keep growing they are scuffled with an iron scuffle.When potatoes begin to bloom they are again moulded with a double mould board plough. At the end of the month of June the potatoes are sprayed with blue stone and washing soda. They are again sprayed three weeks after the first spraying.
This is done to prevent the blight.
