Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The houses had no windows but, instead of them, there were small holes in the walls, and when a storm came on, the holes were stuffed with sacks. The floors were usually made of yellow clay, but sometimes cobblestones were embedded in it. Every house had a half door with a whole one inside it and many have them still.
Turf beanstalks and faggots were used as fuel.
Dips supplied light, which were made by dipping a cord in grease, letting it dry, and dipping it again and again until it was sufficiently thick. Buchaillans, small hand lamps, and home-made candles were also used as a means of giving light at night.- Bailitheoir
