    Wheat meal and barley meal breatt were chiefly used, but barley bread is now gone out of fashion. The oatmeal stirabout has given way to tea mornings also.
    On Christmas Day instead of porridge, beef was eaten for breakfast. Eggs are given to the workmen on Easter Morning. On that evening neighbours visited each other for a feast of eggs. This custom is not practiced now.
    Noggins were used locally before cups. They were made of wood with two stell hooks to keep the slaves together. Another vessel known as a piggen was half the size of a noggin and of much the same shape. Both are rarely seen now.
