- Pike corner in olden days was a turn-pike road but when tolls were done away with it was corrupted into Pike Corner or as some call it Pie Corner.Bunker's Hill was named after the battle of that name and because a hero of the battle came from there. Lambert Place is nicknamed Bunker's Hill. The Golden Pillar was named because of the Golden Harvest of corn that used to be stored in a malt house there. Cul Channel got its name because cul in Irish means back and also the barges used to go up that way. The reason for their going up that way was that Wexford was a busy port and the barges would get in the way of the ships.
