    At one time the Village of Killinick or Clinick as the old people called it was a flourishing place with its trades-men of every class. The were as follows :- a carpenter, a black-smith, a cooper, a shoe-maker, a tailor a basket-maker and a faggot- cutter.
    Each of those I menttioned earned good money. Then there was a dress-maker, or as the old people called them, mantle-makers or "Manty"-makers. A hat-maker or two made our hats, which kept good for a year or two, from home-grown straw. They would be "done up" then as we called it. We would take them to her (hatmaker) then and she
