- In '98, the Monument-Place was known as "the Camp of the Wexford Pike-men," whose leader was a man by the name of John Garrett.
Garrett's Wife + his young son James lived with him.One day 2,000 English soldiers attacked the camp and routed Garrett's forces. Garrett himself was mortally wounded and was bleeding freely and in a few minutes he was crying for Water.(continues on next page)- Collector
