- The Rath at RacecourseThere are many raths or raheens in this country, but the best preserved one is at Cummer.
It is situated on the lands of Lawrence Byrne. It is in a field beside the road and opposite the Mountain lane. It is on the side of the hill.
This rath is twelve yards across. There is a circular ditch around it, but only the remains of it are to be seen now, but it is believed that it was much higher some years ago. Many other raths can be seen from it.
Hundreds of years ago this rath was used for signalling purposes. Some people say there is gold in this rath. An old man named Michael Doyle has dug it in search of gold, He is a sculptor he cuts incriptions on head(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
