- There are many weather signs noted in this district. If the sun sets with a pale appearance it is a sign of rain, but if the sun looks red it is a sign of frost or sometimes fine weather.
To see the moon with a white ring surrounding it is a sign of wet weather, but if the moon is very bright with no ring around it, it is a sign of fine weather.
To see a lot of stars in the sky is a sign of frost. It is also believed that when a star falls a baby is born. Another belief is if a wish is formed while a star is falling that wish will be granted.
When the clouds appear to be racing each other it is a sign of a storm. An old proverb often heard in the parish is
"A rainbow at morning is the shepherds warning,
A rainbow at night is the shepherds delight."
When the swallows fly high it is a sign of fine weather .
