    The following is an account of severe weather in this district.
    My father related this account to me.
    His address is
    Castle Hill,
    Enniscorthy,
    Co. Wexford.
    Age : 58 years born +has lived in Enniscorthy.
    From time to time there has been several spells of very severe weather of different kinds during the last hundred years.
    The following is an account of very severe, cold, and snowy weather :-
    In about the beginning of February of 1917 began a spell of universal cold weather.
    It affected the soldiers in the trenches in France and also our own country towns and people.
    It lasted from February until the end of March.
    All the water-pipes in the town of Enniscorthy were frozen and for some time the farmers could not send their butter, eggs, milk and other produce in to town.
    My father had a thermometer which he
