was fought on May 26th 1798, and Father John Murphy who led the Insurgents stayed the night before with his sister Mrs Walsh the Barracks, Effernogue, Ferns.
The house in which he stayed is now used as a boiling house. Some-time ago when a portion of this house was being repaired a sword of the period was found, and is now in possession of Mr John Konlon, St. Aidans.
I have often heard the following "Saying" in Reference to the Harrow. __
Bookey fell on the road,
A yeoman fell behind him,
Up came "Long Toes" Sow"
