    short, and one of the men decided to gather some firewood in the neighbouring fields, now owned by Mrs. Tyndall. The other man kept the fire lighting as best he could, till his comrade returned with the firewood.
    When he had come back he heard the tramping of horses' hoofs, up the road, near by. He said to his companion "What is this, coming? Could it be a funeral at this hour of the night, or is it the body-snackers? The first man that will open the gate, I will shoot him".
    His comrade replied, "Do not, God knows who they are or what is their business here". Just then, they heard the rattle of the gate being opened and the undaunted man took up the gun and fired in the direction
