Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Long ago people cured ailments and wounds with herbs. At that time doctors were very scarce therefore they were very expensive. Even if there was a doctor to be had the poor people could not afford to pay him his fee, and this explains why they invented cures of their own for each ailment. These cures were made mostly from wild herbs.
    Boils. Boils were cured with soap and sugar long ago. First of all the sugar was ground into powder. Then the powder was put on a slice of soap. The poultice of soap and sugar was then placed on the boils.
    Toothaches. Toothaches were cured in this district long ago, by going to St John's Well and drinking some of the water. Then the person left an offering at the well. St John's well is situated in Tullybeg. Toothaches were also cured here by going to a graveyard and getting an old human skull. The person then
