It is not known who hid it or why it was hidden. Two men dreamt of it three nights each. They agreed to dig for it together. They dug a large hole where they dreamt it was hidden. One man threw up some large yellow lump. The other man jumped up and said he had got the treasure. He started to run away with it. The other man threw his spade at him. We are not sure whether he killed him or not.
The gold was never dug for afterwards. The pit was left open. In after years it was closed up. The caster which was nearby is believed to have been owned by the McGeoghegans
- A house carpenter. He went to the U.S.A. He returned after twelve years. About eighty years ago he came back. He took with him a safe of rifles called Queen Anne rifles. He got them home to Faheran, his native place, by calling them his luggage. When he arrived, he buried them in John Darcy's field near the road.
