The Major's Road Joins the Moat-Clara and Dublin roads together. It passes beside Ballinamenton. Mr Marsh who lived in Ballinamenton used to be called Major by his servants. They had to go up and down the road so often that they called their master the Major. this was 120 years ago.
The Gap of The Wood Road leads to Rosemont. There was a wood growing in the place and the road was made through the wood.
