- The name of the townland that I live in is the Island.
It is called so because there are rivers all around it.
The most of the houses are thatched. Long ago there were more houses than there are now, but there are new ones being built now.
There are not many old people living in the district, but none of the people can speak Irish.
There are three rivers the Brosna, the Silver River, and the Gristeen, and they all meet in the one place called the Point.
The land along by the road is good, but there is a vast stretch of bog out of which the people get their turf.- Collector
